Liana Bennett opened the Arts Umbrella in 1985 with three teachers. A few classes and supplies. We now have many teachers and many classes covering a variety of media.

The Arts Umbrella is an "umbrella" under which each teacher conducts his or her own classes as a personal business. Part co-op/part private business makes all of us feel that we have a personal stake in making the Arts Umbrella a success, and allows us to provide a creative and relaxed atmosphere for our students.

We are particularly proud of our youth art program and hope that teaching observational skills as well as exposing our youth to various mediums will keep the creative process alive and well in their future.
