Vanessa graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1981. Her artistic interests and experience range from drawing to sign/construction of theater costumes and sets. Vanessa has been on the Youth Art teaching team since 1989.
Our Youth Art Program, developed over several years has been created with the goal of encouraging children to retain, explore and develop their natural creativity. Basic concepts of line, shape, color and form are explored with all students as they work through projects designed to develop their creativity and visual skills. Projects include a wide variety of media: pencils, pastels, oil pastels, water color, scratchboard, sculpey, acrylic paint, etc.) to keep interest levels high and to allow children to develop skill in the use/handling of each medium. Individual style is strongly encouraged. Our teens are guided in portfolio and art college preparation. Many of our teens have been accepted at art colleges around the country.
