Youth Art Program  425-485-7422 or 425-483-6846
The Youth Arts Program was designed to give children the skills, encouragement and environment they need to explore and develop their natural creativity. Classes are taught by artists and fine art skills are emphasized. Although children are encouraged to use reference material to help them observe and understand their chosen subject matter, teachers strongly encourage work that reflects individuality and personal vision. Projects are chosen not only to refine each student's visual skills but to expose them to a wide variety of media (pencil, pastels, oil pastels, water color, scratchboard, sculpey, acrylic paint, etc.). Teens (grades 9-12) are guided in portfolio preparation and many of our students have been accepted at art colleges around the country.

To enroll in a class
Call or e-mail the instructor to see if there are openings. Returning students have priority for fall registration. New and former students are enrolled on a space-available basis determined by the date that his or her name was placed on the waiting list.

If there are no immediate openings, place your child's name on the waiting list(s). Individual instructors maintain their own waiting lists. There is no cost or obligation associated with these lists, so place your child's name on all appropriate class wait lists. This will speed his/her placement.

You will be contacted by phone or e-mail when there is a class opening. There is no obligation to accept an opening; however, once you tell the instructor that your child will be joining the class, you are obligated to pay one month's tuition and the registration / supply fee. Once your child is attending classes, please give your instructor at least two weeks notice if your child will not be returning the following month.

Feel free to contact instructors with any questions or to see how wait lists are progressing.
Important Information
  • Due date is always the last class of the previous session.
  • To reserve your child's place in the class, tuition must be prepaid for each four-week session.
  • Classes are conducted during the school year (October - June). Check with the instructor for exact beginning and ending dates.
  • Please make all checks payable to instructor.
  • No refund if class is missed. However, there are opportunities to make up a class within the month.
  • Make-up for a class missed may not be credited to the next month.
  • Each month's tuition based on the number of classes offered during the month.
  • Paying tuition on time in full guarantees your child's spot in class.
  • All Youth Art Classes will have a registration/material supply fee. Check with your instructor for information about your class.

  • Students wishing to enter the 9th-12th grade class must be entering the tenth grade or have been enrolled during their eighth grade year in the Youth Arts Program. Age/class breakdowns are somewhat flexible as we take into consideration the ability and maturity (social skills, concentration, etc.) of each student.
